Dominion Energy Highlights Federal Assistance Program for Summer Energy Bills

Dominion Energy reminded the public on Thursday about a federal funding program available to help eligible customers with their energy bills during the summer.

August is not only a month of high heat and humidity in the Midlands but also designated as Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Month.

LIHEAP, a program funded by the federal government, provides financial aid to customers whose energy bills are significantly affected by extreme temperatures.

According to Dominion Energy, over 71,000 of their customers received approximately $23 million in energy assistance through LIHEAP and related programs in 2023.

Customers are encouraged to explore payment plans and assistance options by logging into their accounts online or using the Dominion Energy mobile app. To apply for LIHEAP, customers need to contact their local community action agency.

A complete list of community action agencies by county is available here.
