A thrilling new roller coaster, the “Wrath of Rakshasa,” is set to debut in 2025 at Six Flags Great America, located just outside of Chicago. This ride promises to be a game-changer, featuring what will be the steepest drop in the world.
The “Wrath of Rakshasa” will take riders on a heart-pounding journey, starting with a 96-degree first drop—the steepest of its kind. Additionally, the coaster will boast the most inversions ever seen on a dive coaster, making it a must-visit attraction for thrill-seekers.
Designed by the renowned roller coaster manufacturer Bolliger and Mabillard, this custom-built ride will stand 180 feet tall. One of its most nerve-wracking features is the cliffhanger hold, which will suspend riders at the edge before plunging them 171 feet at a near-vertical angle.
John Krajnak, Park President of Six Flags Great America, expressed excitement about the new attraction: “Six Flags Great America continues to push the limits of innovation and thrills, as we introduce the world’s steepest drop with the most inversions on a dive coaster. Wrath of Rakshasa joins our already impressive lineup of record-breaking roller coasters and attractions at the park, demonstrating our commitment to delivering cutting-edge experiences for our guests.”
The “Wrath of Rakshasa” will be equipped with three trains, each seating passengers in three rows of seven. With a track length of 3,239 feet, the ride will reach speeds approaching 67 miles per hour and include five thrilling inversions.
This announcement marks the second record-breaking roller coaster set to open within a short distance of Michigan in 2025, adding another exciting destination for roller coaster enthusiasts in the region.
