Areas in the western end of the New York State Fairgrounds experienced significant flooding following severe thunderstorms that swept through the Syracuse area on Saturday, August 31. Fair officials have reported that staff are actively engaged in clearing the floodwaters, utilizing vacuum trucks to remove standing water from the affected areas.

The fair’s management is closely coordinating with partner agencies to evaluate the extent of the flooding and to identify any additional impacts that may have arisen from the storm. Despite the disruption, the New York State Fair is expected to continue its schedule as planned, with ongoing efforts to ensure the grounds are safe and accessible for attendees.
